Thank you for entering the inaugural De Silva Open 2026.
We are delighted to welcome competitors, coaches and supporters from clubs across the UK and look forward to providing a professional, friendly and enjoyable competition experience for everyone involved.
Please take a few moments to read the information below before travelling to the venue.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Venue:

Directions
Approaching from Kingston Lane North at the first roundabout, take the second exit, turning right. Continue to the next, smaller roundabout and again take the second exit, turning right.
Parking
There is plenty of space in the campus car park, but with so many attendees, please make sure you allow enough time so you are not in a rush.
Follow the road, keeping to the left fork, until you reach the barriers. If the barriers are up, proceed a few meters further, and the car park will be on your left. If the barriers are down, press the intercom button to speak to security and request access.
Spectators
Entry will be permitted on a first-come, first-serve basis and charged at £5 per spectator, 5 years and under are free of charge.
Competitors should not take up paid seating if possible – they should remain in the competition area or use the warm-up area.
Refreshments
There are a number of food & drink vendors located within walking distance from the venue, but we recommend bringing your own sandwiches, snacks and water.
Timings:
An approximate indication is included below so you can plan your day. Please be aware that there may be variation in these timing depending on the events on the day.
Please ensure you arrive promptly to ensure that you are correctly registered and you do not miss your division.
Club coaches are asked to register with the event team upon arrival.

HOT WEATHER
With warm weather forecast, we'd appreciate everyone's support in ensuring competitors remain safe throughout the event.
Please encourage competitors to:
- Bring plenty of water.
- Stay well hydrated.
- Bring suitable snacks or lunch.
- Rest in shaded areas between divisions where possible.
The welfare of all competitors remains our highest priority.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Format
All divisions will be contested using a round-robin format, ensuring every competitor has multiple opportunities to compete.
Final placings will be determined from the overall results, with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals awarded.
Patterns
- All White & Coloured Belt students will perform one designated patterns throughout the rounds. All students will be asked to perform their grade pattern (e.g. Chon-Ji Tul, Dan-Gun Tul), or if you have graded recently, the most senior pattern that you know.
- All divisions will be separated by grade, so competitors will face another competitor of a similar age and grade.
Sparring
All White & Coloured Belt competitors will spar for a duration of 90 seconds per bout. Sparring bouts will be semi-contact.
All students who are participating in Sparring will need their own Sparring equipment. If you do not have your own equipment on the day, you will not be allowed to Spar.
HEIGHT/WEIGHT CHECKS
Height and weight checks will be carried out during registration to verify the information submitted by clubs via SportData.
To help speed up the registration process on the day, De Silva Taekwon-Do competitors will have their height and weight checked during classes on Friday 26th June and will therefore not need to be rechecked on arrival.
Please ensure the details submitted during registration are accurate. If a competitor is found to have been entered with significantly incorrect height or weight information, the organisers reserve the right to move them into a more appropriate division where possible. If no suitable alternative division is available, the competitor may be unable to participate in that event.
We appreciate the cooperation of all clubs in helping us provide a safe and fair competition for every competitor.
DIGITAL SCORING
This year's De Silva Open will see the introduction of a trial digital scoring system, designed to improve the speed, accuracy and efficiency of the competition.
Our officials will be recording scores using mobile devices, allowing results to be processed more quickly and helping to keep the event running to schedule. As this is our first event using the system, we appreciate your patience and understanding should there be any minor delays or adjustments during the day.
We believe this is an exciting step forward and look forward to evaluating the system with the aim of enhancing future competitions.
