Johann De Silva, the founder of De Silva Taekwondo, has been appointed as ITF England’s new Technical Director.
Johann was voted onto ITF England’s board of directors on 30th January 2017, and will assume the role with immediate effect. His mandate will be to continue to develop the technical standards of taekwondo throughout the country. He’ll be working with 21 member associations – including De Silva Taekwondo – to achieve this.
Johann De Silva opened the first De Silva Taekwondo academy nearly 20 years ago in Wembley, and after winning multiple national championships and a world championship, he is now focused on his coaching career, and this new role at the top of the sport.
“I’m honoured to have been voted onto the ITF England Board of Directors,” said Johann. “I have been working directly with the England team as a coach since February 2016, and am looking forward to helping the martial art reach its huge potential.”
As well as coaching the England team, Johann De Silva teaches taekwondo at De Silva Taekwondo Academies in Wembley, Ealing and Ruislip. You can book a free trial lesson here .[learn_press_profile]
