So far, this has been another successful year for the Association and there was no better way to end it than to run our annual Warrior Winter interclub, held at the Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre – a new and exciting location for the competition. No snow this time!
The Winter Interclub continues to go from strength to strength with over 75 students – ranging from white belt to red belt – both young to old showing, great passion for Taekwondo and respectful sportsmanship for one another. Many of the De Silva Black Belts volunteered to travel down to help referee and officiate the competition; without them it wouldn’t have run as efficiently as it did.
There were some star performances from some of our much younger warriors. They performed with confidence in all their categories but especially sparring, which is one of our main focuses with the children training with us. The hours of drills and sparring they practised in lessons certainly paid off and the commitment from the parents to bring their children back and forth from lessons cannot be forgotten.
As instructors and competitors ourselves, we cannot express how pleased we are with everyone who turned up- for some it was their first competition and it will be interesting to see where their Taekwondo journey will take them
